Numerical Study for the Tube Rotation Effect on Melting Process in Shell and Tube Latent Heat Energy Storage LHES System

Although renewable energy systems have become an interesting global issue, it is not continuous either daily or seasonally. Latent heat storage (LHES) one of the suitable solutions for this problem. LHES becomes a basic element in systems. compensate lack when these are at low production conditions. The present work considered shell and tube numerical investigation rotation influence on melting process. simulation calculations were carried out using ANSYS Fluent software. Paraffin wax represents phase change material (PCM) work, while water was selected to be transfer fluid (HTF). 9 rpm case as well stationary case. results show slight increase liquid content PCM due rotation. enhancement percentage 3.5% 6 hrs charging axial direction small relative that radial direction.
